At the most Advanced Level, doubt means doubt in Buddha, Dhamma ( his teachings ) and the order of monks(Sangha).
Venerable Ashin Janakabhivamsa defines doubt as follows:
(1) doubt as to whether Lord Buddha is really omniscient.
(2) doubt as to whether the practice laid down by Lord Buddha can lead to the realization of Nirvanna.
(3) doubt as to whether on the morality and other merits of monks.
(4) doubt as to whether the threefold practice we are following can bring practical results.
(5) doubt as to whether we have had previous existences; (Has a creator god created us? )
(6) doubt as to whether we shall have future existences ( will dealth be the end of our existence and no more?
(7) doubt as to whether it is true that of moral and immoral actions generate kammic effects that follow aas like shadows ( disbelief in the efficacy of actions)
(8) doubt as to whether we shall really get the fruits of our own moral actions, (disbelief in the effects of Kammic actions) and
(9)doubt as to whether on the validity of doctrine of dependent origination.
